Fr. Mark
Speaker: Fr. Mark O'Keefe, OSB

Title: "Making Tough Decisions about Medical Treatments”

When: Tuesday, July 30 at 1:00 p.m. CDT

Modern medicine is truly a wonder! So many diseases can be cured, and so many people can be helped to return to normal living even after the most serious illnesses. But, at the same time, these medical advances have made morally good decision-making even more complicated for sincere Catholics.  In this presentation, we will look at the resources that the Catholic moral tradition and official teaching have to offer about such questions as withholding and withdrawing medical treatments, the use of artificial nutrition and hydration, and advance directives.

Fr. Mark is a monk of Saint Meinrad Archabbey, and he teaches moral theology and spirituality in the Seminary and School of Theology. He has served as president-rector of the seminary, as a pastor and is the author of several books on spirituality and morality.
