The Saint Meinrad Archabbey Library Gallery, St. Meinrad, IN, is hosting an exhibit of contemporary
quilts provided by the Patoka Valley Quilt Guild, from July 3-31. The exhibit
follows a similar exhibit of traditional quilts provided by the Guild during
June.
The Patoka Valley Quilt
Guild was formed in 1992 through the efforts of Sandra Aronoff and Helen
Vonderheide. The Guild is open to those 18 and older who wish to learn about
quilting and to share the love of quilts. Meetings are held the first Tuesday of
the month at 7 p.m. at the Ferdinand Community
Center.
Each meeting features a
program focusing on an aspect of quilting. These programs allow members to try
different skills or new methods used in the quilt process. The Guild also
sponsors workshops, lectures and quilt shows that are open to the
public.
To learn more about the organization, contact the Guild
at: Patoka Valley Quilt Guild, P.O.
Box 515, Jasper, IN 47547.
The library exhibit is free and open to the public.
Library hours are Mondays, 8 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m.; Tuesdays through Thursdays,
8 a.m.-noon, 1-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.; Fridays, 8 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m.;
Saturdays, 9-11 a.m., 1-5 p.m.; and Sundays, 1-5 p.m. The library will be closed
on July 4 and on the morning of July 16.
All times are Central time. Those wishing to view the
exhibit may want to arrive at least 30 minutes before closing
time.
NB: This exhibit of
contemporary quilts is different from the traditional quilts that were on
display during June.
