Here are some upcoming tours and pilgrimages that Saint Meinrad alumni are welcome to join. Saint Meinrad’s Br. Maurus Zoeller, OSB, is the tour host.

Come and explore with us some of the most fascinating sites in all of secular and sacred history. We will also be walking in the footsteps of St. Paul, bringing life to the Epistles he wrote.

We will have a short morning prayer, evening prayer and Mass as often as the schedule and space allow. Father Jeremy King, OSB, one of our monks, will be our chaplain.

This pilgrimage will begin and end in the grandeur of Athens. Marvel at the ancient architecture of the Olympic Stadium, the Temple of Zeus, Hadrian’s Arch and the Acropolis. Drop in on Mars Hill and see if you can hear the echo of St. Paul’s famous speech to the men of Athens. Spend your leisure time examining the city in all of her philosophical essences, where great philosophers discussed the nature of human existence, democracy began and Christianity developed.

Drop in on the unique shops and pick up mementos to bring home. We will also visit some of the interior cities of Greece, which are rich in important archaeological sites. Explore history as we stop in Delphi, Kalambaka, Meteora and Thessaloniki.

To top it all off, we will enjoy a three-night cruise on the beautiful Aegean Sea. Visit ports of call like Mykonos, the St. Tropez of the Aegean; Kusadasi, which is the gateway to the magnificent city of Ephesus; Patmos, where St. John was inspired and we will visit the cave where St. John wrote the Book of Revelation. We will visit Heraklion, Crete, the southernmost Greek isle and Santorini, with its spectacular volcanic cliffs.

Br. Maurus invites you to join him on his 14th pilgrimage to the Holy Land. He says: My deep love for the Holy Land began in 1971 with my first pilgrimage.

The Holy Land is to me one of the most important places on earth and I just love going and walking in the footsteps of Jesus. After 13 pilgrimages, I find it safer than most cities in America. Every time I go, I find deep peace and a deeper appreciation for the life, death, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We plan to have a short morning prayer, evening prayer and Mass as often as the schedule and appropriate spaces allow. Father Jeremy King, OSB, one of our monks, will be our chaplain.

A trip to the Holy Land offers a deeper appreciation of one’s faith and brings to life many of the stories from the Old and New Testament. All the monuments, shrines, and churches built over the past two thousand years are a loving remembrance of Christ’s life.

A journey to the Holy Land is a spiritual experience that every Christian should have at least once in a lifetime. There the Bible comes alive with a new richness. You can stand with Jesus on the Mount of Olivet and walk with Him along the Via Dolorosa.
