Douglas “Doug” Martin Emerine, 68, of Johns Island, SC, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015.

He was born on Friday, June 21, 1946, in Fostoria, OH, to the late Dolores Ann Reinhart Emerine and the late Elmer D. Emerine.

Doug graduated from Our Lady of Lakes High School, attended Catholic seminary schools, and served in the United States National Guard as a lieutenant. He graduated from Bowling Green State University with a BS degree in Business. He was a supply chain leader at Venture Aerobearing in Ladson. Previously, he had worked as a consultant with PSI and was a plant manager with FL Aerospace, Grimes Division in Greenwood, SC. Doug enjoyed gardening, golfing, reading, biking, traveling, fishing, cooking, and woodworking. He loved weekend visits from Deidre and monthly poker nights with his buddies. His dog Buddy was his best pal and teaching him new tricks was a thrill. He loved to write Phyllis love letters, sing and play the guitar. He was passionate about living life to the fullest and was a loving husband, great father and grandfather.

Besides his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen C. Emerine and sister, Sheila M. Emerine.

Doug is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Owings Emerine, of Johns Island, SC. The love and friendship between Doug and his wife began 33 years ago. It was a true love story that will last forever in our souls.

He is also survived by their daughter, Deidre M. Alexander, of Charleston, SC. From a previous marriage, Doug is survived by one daughter, Andrea E. Shepherd and her husband, Kris, of Las Vegas, NV; and one son, Donovan D. Emerine and his wife, Karen, of Atlanta, GA. He also had two grandchildren: Andrew K. Shepherd and Audrey M. Shepherd.

A visitation will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 16, 2015, in the chapel of McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley. The memorial service will begin immediately following at 12pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hollings Cancer Center at MUSC.
