Fr. Harold W. Rightor, II, age 79, of Indianapolis, passed away on December 9, 2022 at St. Francis Hospital, Indianapolis, IN.
Fr. Harold was born February 28, 1943 in Indianapolis, IN (Beech Grove area), son of the late Harold W. Rightor, Sr. and Mary E. (Fisher) Rightor. He is survived by one brother, James “Jimmy” Rightor; two sisters,Sharon Larmore, and Carolyn Steindorff. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Deborah Corban and Loretta Odgen.
After graduating from Indianapolis Tech High School and after the Marine Corps, Fr. Harold later obtained several jobs in Indianapolis before being led to becoming a priest. Subsequently, he obtained a Masters of Divinity at Saint Meinrad, Indiana School of Theology and later was ordained a priest with the Indianapolis Archdiocese until his subsequent retirement after many years of service.
Fr. Harold had a gorgeous tenor voice and always “sang” all of his Masses to the enjoyment of his parishioners. He also sang solos at numerous catholic churches throughout the Indianapolis Archdiocese.
Prior to his priesthood, Fr. Rightor sang in numerous Footlite Musical productions, (Oklahoma, South Pacific, etc.)a local theater in Indianapolis. he also directed and sang with the Jubilation Singers, a family group who performed at various churches in the Indianapolis area and at other local events.
