Richard S. McGraw, 87, died at 10:00 AM on Sunday, November 19, 2017, at his residence in Lima, Ohio. Richard was born on April 4, 1930, in Canton, Ohio to the late Dennis McGraw and Mary Louise (Stoll) McGraw. On Saturday, May 24, 1952, he married Carolyn R. (Kennedy) McGraw. She preceded him in death on August 20, 2006. He retired from Teledyne Ohio Steel as vice president of Metallurgy and Customer Technical Services after 35 years of service. From 1990 till June 2010 he was self-employed as a Metallurgical Engineering consultant. As a member of the U.S. Army he served as a language interpreter in Germany during the Korean War until 1955 when he was honorably discharged. He and his wife Carol enjoyed carrying their clubs and playing Lost Creek Country Club almost every day for many years. Although his world changed with her passing and he never really had the same interest in golf once he lost his partner. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and also sang with the choir at St. Rose Catholic Church. He was a commissioned Lay Minister of the Diocese of Toledo. He performed Prison Ministry with the Awareness Retreat Team, which visited and conducted spiritual retreats at Allen Correctional Institution in Lima, Ohio and Madison Correctional Institution in London, Ohio. He very much enjoyed spending time with all his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and always made everyone laugh with his humor. Mr. McGraw’s academic accomplishments, sports interests, and all other interests took a back seat to his spirituality, his personal relationship with God. To him that is all that really mattered. He knew he was loved unconditionally by God and he wanted to return some of that love as best he could by loving, caring for and serving others. He is survived by a daughter, Terri (Steve) Pepple, of Fort Wayne, IN., two sons, Matt (Deb) McGraw, and Kevin McGraw, both of Lima, OH, four grandsons, Kyle (Michelle) McGraw, of Ottawa, OH, Todd McGraw, Lima, OH, Steve (Amanda) Pepple, of San Francisco, and Matt Pepple, of Greenville S.C., nine granddaughters, Jenni McGraw, of Findlay, OH, Kelly (Ty) Walker, of Austin, TX, Cassie (Steven) Mary, of Ashville NC, Marcy McGraw, of Dublin, OH, Shela McGraw, of Austin, TX, Victoria McGraw, Taylor McGraw, Sandra (Brad) Bultemeier, of Fort Wayne, IN, Christa (David)Anthony, of Fort Wayne, IN and nine great grandchildren; a brother Dennis (Betty) McGraw Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio, and a sister Mary Pentenburg of Lima.
