Sister Sally (Sally Ann) Lessnau died at 12:40 a.m. on November 12, 2014, at Seton Residence in Evansville, Indiana. Sister Sally was born on November 17, 1942, and was one of six children of Raymond and Elizabeth (Doetsch) Lessnau, of Detroit, Michigan. After graduation from St. Anthony High School in Detroit, Sister joined the Daughters of Charity in August, 1961.During initial formation, Sister Sally received a B.A. degree in Education from St. Joseph College in Emmitsburg, Maryland in 1964. She then served as an elementary school teacher in Yougstown, Ohio and Long Beach, Mississippi. In 1978, Sister Sally received an M.A. degree in Humanities from the University of Evansville, Indiana, and then served as Director of Religious Education in Huntingburg, Indiana, and Gulfport, Mississippi. In 1993, Sister was missioned to Walls, Mississippi where she worked for Catholic Social Services. In 1998, she was sent to Nashville, Tennessee, to serve as a teacher in St. Vincent de Paul School and later as a Case Manager for Catholic Charities until 2012, when she began her work in Social Services in East St. Louis, Illinois, while residing at the Daughters of Charity Seminary Residence in St. Louis, Missouri. In August, 2014, Sister Sally moved to Seton Residence in Evansville, Indiana, to serve in the Ministry of Prayer until the time of her death.Sister Sally was preceded in death by her brother, Mark (Pat) Lessnau, and she is survived by her brothers, Robert (Carol) and Kenneth (Mary Jane); her sisters, Mary (Steve) Hudson and Shirley Lessnau; many nieces and nephews; her Sisters in Community and many friends.
