Albert G. Dauby, 97, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City.He was born in New Albany, IN on September 17, 1915 to Clarence and Anna (Deering) Dauby, who precede him in death. Also preceding him in death is first wife, Hazel (Buchser) Dauby; sons, Dirk and Gordon Craig Dauby; second wife, Willia Mae (Williams) Dauby; sisters, Clara Stiles and Star Schierhozer and brothers, Infant Clarence P. and Clarence J. Dauby, Jr.Albert was a WWII Army veteran and member of the American Legion Post #213 and St. Paul Catholic Church. He was very involved in his community; the following are some of his achievements. He owned and operated Dauby’s Department Store. He was a merchant-tree farmer and conservationist with a love of wood carving. A Member of Woodcarvers Association, he also taught wood carving classes. He was awarded the Tom Wallace (Louisville Courier) Tree Farmer of Indiana and Kentucky and Conservationist of the Year in 1979 and Outstanding Tree Farmer in 1988.Albert served as past president, chairman and secretary for many boards and committees, including, Tell City Kiwanis, Barbershop Chorus, he sang base with Gourme” Barbershop Quartet for ten years and while in service, was a member for 3 -+ years of European Theatre and Scott Field Air force Chorus, member of St. Paul Church, First Baptist Church and Lincoln Hills Chorus, Lincoln Hills Forestry Committee, Indiana IFWO, Indiana Forestry Education Foundation, Perry County SWCD including District 9 SWCD past chairman, Tell City Chamber of Commerce, Tell City Merchants Association, American Red Cross of Perry County and Tell City Housing Authority including the year the High Rise was built. He also enjoyed playing golf three times week, wife and weather permitting.Surviving is his daughter, Brenda Lee and her husband, Bob of Owensboro, KY; sister, Delores James of Winter Park, FL; grandchildren, Teresa (Shawn) Cury and Lisha (Jed) Reynolds; great-grandchild, Luke (Brittiany) Reynolds; great-great grandchild, Aliyah Reynolds.A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 P.M. CST Saturday, December 29, 2012 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Tell City. Father Dennis Duvelius will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home Friday from 1:00 G╟⌠ 5:00 P.M. CST and Saturday 11:30 A.M.-12:30 P.M.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church or Vista Care Hospice.”
