David A.  Ettensohn, 84, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Oasis Dementia Care in Evansville, Indiana.

David was born in Tell City, Indiana, on June 30, 1938, to Herman and Myrtle (Dauby) Ettensohn, both deceased.  He was a graduate of Tell City High School and Brescia College in Owensboro, Kentucky.  David was also a U.S. Navy veteran.  He was a Kentucky Colonel.

On August 24, 1963, he married Billie “Jo” Kessner at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City, Indiana.

David was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Henderson, Kentucky, serving in many voluntary roles over the years, such as teaching CCD classes, hosting and leading small renewal groups, volunteering for 10 years at the Henderson St. Vincent DePaul Store.  David was a teacher of Fine Arts and Sociology at Owensboro Catholic High School, Holy Name High School and Henderson County High School.  While at Henderson County High School, he earned his Master’s Degree and Rank I from Murray State University.  David was also an adjunct professor for Murray State University and Western Kentucky University.

David was preceded in death by his brothers, Cletus “Clete” and his wife, Teresa, Leo “Jock” and his wife, Mary Catherine, Robert “Bob”, Bernard “Butch” and his wife, Dorothy; and two sisters, Theresa Ettensohn and Mary Catherine “Cappie” Rice and her husband, Oscar Rice.

David  is survived by his wife of 58 years, Billie “Jo” (Kessner) Ettensohn; two sons, D. Craig Ettensohn and his wife, Kathy, Evansville, Indiana, and Brian J. Ettensohn and his wife, Tracie, Henderson, Kentucky; 4 grandchildren, Katelyn, Evan, Keil and Adrian Ettensohn; sister-in-law, Patricia “Pat”, wife of his late brother, Bob Ettensohn; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
