David Lee Schuchard, 63, of Louisville, entered into eternal life, Sunday, February 2, 2014 after a long battle with lung disease and a valiant quest for lung transplant. David was a certified dental technician for over 35 years and was on the board of the KDLA where he served as president from 1988-1990. He was Crown and Bridge manager at ADL Dental Laboratory, Inc. (Poppa Bear of the Lab) and prior owner of Southend Dental Ceramics. He was a graduate from Saint Meinrad Seminary, and a proud graduate of Flaget High School Class of 1969 in Louisville. David was an avid U of L Cardinal fan and former Cardinal Marching Band parent. He supported St. X Athletics as well. He was a giving individual who placed the needs of others above his own and from that attitude the family has gained strength. The family wishes to thank all of David’s medical caregivers over the past eight months for the love and care he was given. David was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Frances; and father, Ernest Lee. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kathryn; sons, David Jr. and Christopher; granddog, Rhody; brother, Paul (Carolyn); sister, Alice Shuff (Steve); sister-in-law, June Fowler; nephews, Steve Shuff Jr. (Ryan) and Paul Schuchard Jr. (Rika); and nieces, Melissa Shuff, Sherry Page (Mitch) and Erica McDaniel; six great-nephews and one great-niece. The celebration of David’s life will be 10 a.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014 at St. Martha Catholic Church, 2825 Klondike Lane with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Mass of the Air.
