David R. Ziliak, 81, of Ferdinand, passed away at his home on Thursday, July 11th. David was born December 25, 1937 in Gibson County to John and Mildred (Zehner) Ziliak. David married Karleen Feldhaus on May 3,1958 in Corpus Christi Catholic Church. She passed away on January 20, 1989. David then married Mary Fischer Blessinger on November 24, 1990 in the Convent of Immaculate Conception.

He was retired from Whirlpool and the United States Navy. David was a Navy Seabee from 1955 to 1989 serving on the Reserve Naval Mobile Construction Battalion. David was a member of Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church. He belonged to Ferdinand American Legion Post 124, Haubstadt Knights of Columbus, Seabee Veterans of America, Jasper Moose Lodge, and St. Joseph Sodality. He was a lifetime member of the Ferdinand Community Center. David received the Simon Brute Award in 2010.

David is survived by his wife, Mary Ziliak of Ferdinand; two sons, Brian (Angela) Ziliak and Bret T. Ziliak all of Evansville; one stepson, Brian J. (Jennie) Blessinger of Ferdinand; three step-daughters, Sandy (Mark) Morton of Jasper, Debra (Leon) Gogel of Dale and Lana Tobin of Ferdinand; fifteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. David was preceded in death by his first wife, Karleen; a daughter, Brenda Hafler and a brother, Donald Ziliak.
