Joseph J. Seibert, 90, of Newburgh, IN, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born March 13, 1934, in Evansville, Indiana, to the late Valentine and Laonora (Koch) Seibert.
Joe was a Deacon, serving 47 years at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and St. Rupert’s. He retired from Alcoa after 30 years as a Roll Grinder and Team Building Facilitator. He volunteered at the Newburgh senior center, was very active in the Men’s Club and K of C. Joe, along with his late wife, Mary Virginia “Ginny” Seibert, organized Happy Hoosier bus trips, and were foster parents for 10 years. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Joe is survived by his sons, Deacon David (Melanie) of Newburgh, Deacon Michael (Mary) of Celestine, Timothy of Newburgh; daughters, Rebecca Heerdink (Dave) of Evansville, Beth Gillis (Terry) of Prospect, PA, Patricia Schnautz (Doug) of Evansville, Anita Reising (Dan) of Owensville, Jennifer Schmitz (Greg) of Evansville, Sheryl Etienne (Dan) of Dale, Jaime Wright (Ed) of North Carolina, 23 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and a sister, Lorena Harms.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Mary Virginia “Ginny” Seibert; his parents; son, Joseph, Jr.; daughter, Mary Virginia; grandsons, Elijah Etienne and John Seibert; son-in-law Dan Etienne; brothers Sylvester and Jacob, and sisters Josephine and Veronica.
