Joseph F. (Joe) Stofleth, 80, of Newburgh, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at Heritage Nursing Home. He was born in Evansville December 1, 1936, to the late Walter and Marie (Bassemier) Stofleth.He graduated from Mater Dei High School, in 1955, and retired from Permanent Federal Savings Bank in 1997. Joe was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was ordained a Deacon of the Diocese of Evansville in 2005. He received the Brute Society Award for his dedicated work at St. Mary Church. He also attended Aldersgate U.M.C.He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Schubert) Stofleth, of 60 years; sons, David and Steven Stofleth, both of Evansville; sister-in-law, Doris Schubert, of Akron, Ohio; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews and cousins.Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville, where a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday, October 27, 2017, from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 613 Cherry St., Evansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. at the church, with Priests of the Diocese, officiating.
