Donald Raymond Adamshick, of Columbus, OH, died Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Westminster Thurber. He was born March 10, 1930 in Toledo, OH to the late Christopher and Johanna (Fry) Adamshick. He was a graduate of Toledo Central Catholic High School and received a Masters of Education at the University of Toledo. He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was Staff Psychologist at the Ohio State School for the Blind, provided services for the Deaf Blind Clinic at the Ohio School for the Deaf, and had a private counseling practice. In 1979, he received a research grant from the Ohio Psychological Association to travel to Taiwan to introduce and help implement new teaching methods for developmentally disabled children. He was the first lay Dean of Personal Formation at the Pontifical College Josephinum, and was the 1998 recipient of the Msgr. Jessing Award. He did psychological screening for the Diocese of Columbus’ Permanent Diaconate program. He and his wife Carolyn were founding members of St. Anthony Catholic Church, where he was a very active and devoted member. He served in varied ways the Salesians of Don Bosco. A devoted husband and father, his hobbies included fishing, photography, telling humorous stories, and enjoying his beloved TV show, M*A*S*H. He is preceded in death by infant son Anthony Gerard, granddaughter Angela Colleli, brother Robert G. Adamshick, sister-in-law Kate Adamshick and brother-in-law Leo Darmofal. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn and their five children, Mary Helen (Mark) Colleli, Michael R. (Laurie) Adamshick, Margaret Anne (Robert) Shield, Elizabeth T. (Patrick) Adamshick and Jane K (John) Kidder; grandchildren, Sean, Scott, Luke, Laura and Christopher Colleli, Asia Adamshick, Maile, Miranda and Robert Shield and Felicia Kidder; and two sisters, Emma Lou Darmofal and Joan G. (Joe) Pufka. Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Interment followed at Resurrection Cemetery.
