Donald Charles Barhorst of Houston, 86, left this world peacefully in his home on Sunday, December 11, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born March 3, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Donald served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force in 1952. He married his wife Anna Mae Lipps, whom he met on a blind date, on May 21, 1955. He and his family moved to Houston in 1972 where he lived the rest of his life as a longtime employee of Honeywell.Beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Anna Marie Lipps Barhorst; his six children, Eileen Neucere (Evans), Mark Barhorst (Rhonda), Donna Barhorst (King Hom), Alan Barhorst (Dina), Annette Stanislav (Mark), and Warren Barhorst (Lisa); his grandchildren, Clayton (Amber Greaves), Spencer, Reicher, Janna (Jordan Deal), Ashley, Elizabeth, Kelsey, Erica (William Cates), Christopher, Natalie, Everett, Caitlyn, Vanessa, Shelby, and Rebecca; and his great-grandson Jay. His siblings Inez White (J. David), Charles Barhorst (Suzanne), Patricia McLeary, Sandra Barhorst (Floyd Jones), Mary Carol Thompson (Brennon), and Barbara Simmons also survive him.He is preceded in death by his father Charles Barhorst, mothers Regina Metzler Barhorst and Alvina Metzler Barhorst, his sister Suzanne Barhorst Hebauf, brother-in-laws Dennis Hebauf, Larry McLeary, Glen Simmons and grandson Carl Barhorst.
