Donald A. Keller, age 76, of Toledo, Ohio passed away at Hospice of Northwest Ohio on December 31, 2016. He was born in Toledo on April 20, 1940, to Frank and Blanche (Kromenacker) Keller. Don earned a BA degree in philosophy from Saint Meinrad Seminary. He was an veteran of the US Army and served as a social work/psychology specialist. He held sailing instructor certificates from the American Red Cross, USCG Auxiliary, US Sailing (USYRU) and was a US Hockey instructor. Don also was a head instructor with Community Boating Education Center in Toledo and instructor/team teacher for safe boating classes with the USCG Auxiliary. He held a US Coast Guard Masters License and spent countless hours sailing on the lakes. Don was a lifelong advocate for children’s rights, being a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for over 20 years. He was a patriotic man who loved his country and greatly valued the freedoms we often take for granted. He was a Catholic and a member of St Rose parish in Perrysburg, Ohio.He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Blanche (Kromenacker) Keller; his brothers, Richard and Dennis who both passed away in 2016. Don is survived by his brother, David (Judy) of Rapid River, Michigan and several nieces and nephews.
