Dr. Robert Nolan “Bob” Myers, age 78 of Lebanon, KY, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Bardstown Health and Rehab Center. He was born on December 22, 1938 in Lebanon, KY.

Bob was a Ph. D counseling psychologist. He entered the Benedictine monastery (St. Meinrad Archabbey in Indiana) at the age of 15 and lived the life as a monk for 10 years. While in the monastery, he earned a B.A. in Philosophy and a M.A. in Theology and spoke fluent German. After leaving the monastic life, Bob taught high school for 5 years while also coaching varsity basketball and baseball and directed senior plays. After teaching high school, he re-entered higher education earning another M.A. in Guidance and Counseling, plus a Ph. D in Couseling Psychology. Bob then did his doctoral internship in the Louisville School System. He served as a psychological consultant for the U.S. Office of Education, and the State Boards of Education in California, Florida, Colorado and Massachusetts. He later entered private practice as a psychotherapist and astrological therapist working in New York City, San Diego, Corpus Christi, Texas and Louisville, KY. When Bob decided to retire, he chose to return to his Central Kentucky roots.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Mary Edith Willett Myers; sister, Barbara Myers Powell; brother, Dr. John Myers.

Survivors include siblings, Wallace Myers (Wanda), of Bardstown, KY, Douglas Myers, of Lebanon, KY, Vickie Wilcher (Rodney), of Ellenton, FL, and Roy Myers (Sandy), of Bardstown, KY. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Honoring Bob’s wishes, the family has chosen cremation with a private family service.
