Edward Richard Katzbeck was born November 15, 1946 to the late John and Mary (Connare) Katzbeck in Pittsburgh, PA and passed away on November 10, 2018 in Lansing, MI at age 71.

As a child, he lived at various army bases both overseas (Darmstadt & Kitsingen, Germany) and throughout the country including Fort George Wright in Spokane WA, Camp McCoy in Wisconsin, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri & Fort Ord in California, as his father was a career military officer in the Army. The family settled in Terre Haute, Indiana where he graduated from Schulte High School in 1963.

Then, Edward proudly served his country as a member of the United Stated Army. After leaving the service he moved to Lansing where he worked as a salesman and then store manager in Kalamazoo for Fox Jewelry. He married his loving wife Linda on June 16, 1972 in Prudenville, Michigan. He returned to the Lansing area in the mid-70’s working in the copier industry as a salesman and manager.

In the 80’s, he and his wife Linda moved to the San Diego area, again working in the copier industry until the early 90’s when he returned to the Lansing area and became part owner of the Polack Corporation until the late 90’s.

For the past 15 years, he has been able to pursue his dream of refereeing and umpiring softball, baseball, basketball, football and volleyball. He was a member of numerous associations including MHSAA, CAAVO, NSA and served on the board as Vice President of the ASOA.

He also was able to pursue his love of travel, golf and playing with his beloved dogs. He maintained his positive, loving, caring attitude until the very end. Left behind to honor his legacy are his loving wife Linda, his brother John, a nephew, as well as several nieces and cousins.
