Elmer L. Schepers, 80, of Whitesville, KY, died Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at the Heartford House in Owensboro, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 1, 1934, to the late Raymond and Theresia (Seger) Schepers in Jasper, IN. He was Korean War Veteran in the 185th Engineer Battalion Combat Army. He received the National Defense Service Medal and Korean Service Ribbon. He attended Brescia College and was one of the founding members of the Whitesville Credit Union. He was a proud member of the Oblates of the St. Joseph Passionist Monastery. He gladly donated his time to his parish as a Eucharistic Minister and coordinator of the St. Mary’s Picnic finances. He was an avid golfer and thoroughly enjoyed participating in the lives of his children and grandchildren.Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary Marcella (Howard) Schepers; seven children; Dr. Theresa Alloy (Stephen), Mary Lou Anderson (Mike), Marilyn Teitloff (Randy), Annette Hamlin (Barry), Jeanne Lancaster (Jim), Joe Schepers (Chris), and Eric Schepers (Traci); 22 grandchildren; Daniel Alloy, F.S.S.P., Clare & Marisa Alloy, John (Jeanne) & Nick Anderson, Sarah, Chris, Emily & Joseph Teitloff, Katie, Lauren, Michael Hamlin, Ben, Alex & Rachel Lancaster, Andrea (Matt) Scott, Stacey, Allison & Patrick Schepers, Jacob, Hannah & Madeline Schepers; 1 great-grandchild, Luke Michael Anderson; brothers, Damian, Marcus and Raymond Schepers; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sister Clara Mae Striegel; and brothers, Edgar and Jerome. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of Masses or donations to the St. Joseph Passionist Monastery in Whitesville, KY or the Heartford House, Hospice of Western KY.
