Eugene Lamar Montfort,78, formerly of Louisville, died at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington after a short illness. He was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Edwitha Montfort and two sisters, Frankie Knopp and Pat Bosse. He was a 1945 graduate of St. Xavier High School and a 1949 graduate of the old St. Mary’s Seminary. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Gene retired from the Social Security Administration in 1983. He was a devoted follower of University of Kentucky sports. He is survived by Carla, his wife of 44 years, his two sons, David and Douglas, both of Lexington, one daughter, Danielle Montfort, Paris, France, one grandson, Jaryd Montfort, Lexington, and one granddaughter, Mikaela Montfort, also of Paris, France.
