Reverend Albert L. Wilson, 95, passed away June 9, 2022 at the Nazareth Home. He was born in Louisville on July 28, 1926 and was baptized at St. Leo Church in Louisville.
Father attended St. Louis Bertrand and St. Columba for elementary school, St. Xavier and St. Mary for high school, and St. Mary College. He then attended St. Meinrad School of Theology in St. Meinrad, IN for major seminary. Father Al was ordained into the priesthood on May 19, 1951.
Following his ordination, he served as Pastor at Holy Cross, St. Basil, Mother of Good Counsel all in Louisville and St. Theresa, Rhodelia. Father served as Associate Pastor at St. Rita, Christ the King, St. Athanasius, Louisville and St. Aloysius (also as Pro-tempore), Pewee Valley. He served as Spiritual Director for the Cursillo Movement and Director of the Bishop David Apartments following retirement in June 1996. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Father was preceded in death by his parents, LeGrand Woodward and Viola Agnes Soetker Wilson and his sister, Eugenia Wickerham. He is survived by four nephews, Arthur (Donna), Robert (Mary), William (Cyndi) and Kenneth (Patrice) Wickerham; several nieces and nephews, his fellow clergy and former parishioners.
