Reverend Donald R. Goetz,72, of Louisville, passed away suddenly, December 4, 2014.Rev. Goetz attended Saint Francis of Assisi, Saint Thomas Seminary, Saint Meinrad College, and Mount Saint Mary’s of the West in Norwood, Ohio.He was ordained to the priesthood on November 30, 1968 at St. Francis of Assisi. This past Sunday, Rev. Goetz celebrated his 46th ordination anniversary. He served as Associate Pastor of St. Gabriel, Holy Spirit, and Our Lady of Guadalupe in Anchorage, Alaska. Rev. Goetz then served as Pastor of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, St. Mary Magdalen of Pazzi in Payneville, St. Brigid, and St. James Catholic Churches, until his retirement on June 20, 2012. He has spent the time following retirement as Sacramental Moderator of St. Boniface Church.Preceding him in death are his parents, George M. and Roumilda Witcher Goetz.Survivors include his brother, Richard “Rick” A. Goetz (Jacinta “JC” Miller); nieces, Laura Goetz Boisseau (Marc), and Jenny Goetz Carter (Travis); as well as great-nephews, Mathew and Ryan Boisseau. He is also survived by his family of priests and many close friends.Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2014 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 2-8 p.m. at Ratterman and Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road, and Saturday from 9-11 a.m. at the church.In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in his memory to St. Meinrad Archabbey or the Archdiocese of Louisville Catholic Services Appeal.
