He was born in Loogootee on Sept. 28, 1930, to Edward R. and Mary E. (Fields) Spaulding.Surviving are two sisters, Dorothy Kavanaugh, Cannelburg, and Mrs. Richard (Mary Catherine) Combs, Indianapolis, and nephews and a niece.He was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Loogootee and graduated from Saint Meinrad Archabbey. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Loogootee Knights of Columbus. He was ordained a priest on June 15, 1957, in Assumption Cathedral in Evansville. He had taught at Rex Mundi High School in Evansville and had served at St. Joseph and Holy Family Catholic churches in Jasper, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Evansville, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Oakland City, St. Bernard Catholic Church in Rockport and St. Raphael Catholic Church in Dubois. After retirement, he assisted at St. John Catholic Church and St. Martin Catholic Church in Whitfield.The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. John Catholic Church. Bishop Charles C. Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brocksmith-Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee.
