Father Edward F. Dhondt, 74, Anderson, passed away March 14, 2017 at his residence after a sudden illness. He was born August 14, 1942, in Cleveland, OH, the son of the late Henry J. and Sabina (Loftus) Dhondt. He was a graduate of Marian University and St. Meinard Seminary of Theology. He was ordained on May 24, 1969 and appointed to Faculty at Central Catholic High School in Lafayette; 1974 to the Pastoral Team at St. Joan of Arc Church in Kokomo; 1975, Faculty Cathedral High School in Indianapolis; 1978, Principal, Central Catholic High School in Lafayette; 1981, Chaplain, IUPUI Catholic Student Center and in residence at Marian College in Indianapolis; 1982, Faculty, Cathedral High School, Indianapolis and Weekend Assistance at St. Elizabeth Seton Parish in Carmel; 1984, Pastor for 29 years at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Anderson, granted retirement in 2013. He also served as Chaplain for the Knights of Columbus in Anderson. Father Ed is survived by a sister-in-law, Carol A. Dhondt of Mentor on the Lake, OH; also surviving are several nieces and nephews and his church family of Anderson. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A. M. Saturday, March 18, 2017 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Bishop Timothy L. Doherty as Principal Celebrant and Bishop William Higi and Priests of the Diocese as con celebrants. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon, OH.
