Father Edward Schneider, a native of Evansville and a priest of the Diocese of Evansville, died at his home in Petersburg, IN.Father Schneider had served as pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Petersburg since 1996. His previous ministry included teaching high school in Evansville and parish ministry in Vincennes, Princeton, and Petersburg, IN.He enjoyed traveling with his family and golfing, and for many years he attended the Kentucky Derby.Father Schneider was the son of the late Casper and Dorothy (Strahl) Schneider of Evansville; they were members of St. Anthony Church.After seminary studies at Saint Meinrad, IN, he was ordained a priest by Bishop Henry J. Grimmelsman on May 23, 1964, and assigned to teach at Memorial High School in Evansville. During his time as a high school teacher, Father Schneider resided at Christ the King parish in Evansville.On August 22, 1968, he was named assistant pastor of St. John the Baptist Church in Vincennes. He was appointed pastor of St. Joseph Church in Princeton in 1977, and he became pastor of St. Francis Xavier Church in Poseyville in 1990.He had served as pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Petersburg since 1996.Father Schneider also served as a Knights of Columbus chaplain at Vincennes and Princeton.Survivors include his sisters, Mary G.
