Reverend Francis R. Kerscher entered eternal life on Friday, October 4, 2013, at the age of 84 at St. Mary’s Home at Felician Village, Manitowoc. Father Kerscher was born June 1, 1929, in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, to Raymond and Veronica (Kerscher) Schwers. His mother died during childbirth, and he was adopted and raised by his maternal grandparents, Frank J. and Theresa Kerscher.Father Frank graduated from Saint Meinrad Seminary in St. Meinrad, Indiana. He was ordained to the Priesthood June 4, 1955 by Bishop Stanislaus V. Bona at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, Green Bay. Father Frank served as assistant pastor at St. John, Antigo, SS. Peter and Paul, Green Bay, St. John Nepomucene, Little Chute, and as pastor of St. Joan of Arc, Goodman, St. Joseph, Kellnersville, SS. Peter and Paul, Kiel, St. Joseph, Champion, St. Odile, Thiry Daems, St. Martin, Tonet, St. Amand, Walhain, and St. John, Seymour. He retired on June 30, 1999.He is survived by three cousins: Rosemary (Leroy) Borths, and Jean Baily all of Two Rivers, and Alice Kanzenbach of Green Bay. Reception of the body by Very Reverend Richard Klingeisen will be at 12:30 p.m. at St. Peter the Fisherman Parish, 3201 Mishicot Rd., Two Rivers, on Wednesday, October 9, 2013. Visitation will follow until the time of the funeral Mass.The Funeral Liturgy, expressing our faith and our hope in the promised glory of the Lord’s Resurrection, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at St. Peter the Fisherman Parish, Two Rivers, with Bishop David L. Ricken officiating. Bishop Robert Morneau and Bishop Robert Banks will concelebrate. Reverend Richard Mauthe is homilist. Entombment will be at Allouez Mausoleum, Green Bay. Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th St. Two Rivers, is assisting with the funeral arrangements.
