Father Brennan, 71, a retired priest of the Diocese of Venice worked at numerous parishes.Bishop Frank J. Dewane said he was saddened by the death of Father Brennan. He joined the priesthood later in life, but served in the Diocese of Venice with distinction and honor. Father Brennan was born in Providence, RI, on January 20, 1940. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Saint Meinrad College, St. Meinrad, IN, in 1983. From there he joined St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach where he later earned a master’s degree in Divinity.He was ordained on May 17, 1987, at Epiphany Cathedral in Venice by then-Bishop John J. Nevins.As a priest of the Diocese, he served at Incarnation Parish in Sarasota; Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish in Sarasota; St. Paul Parish in Arcadia; and as Administrator of St. Patrick Parish in Sarasota. He retired in September 2008. In recent years he had been assisting at Incarnation Parish.A Memorial Mass was celebrated on Jan. 26 at Incarnation Parish in Sarasota.
