Father Harry Thomas Stout Jr., 58, passed away at 8:15 a.m. at his residence.Father Tom’s grade school was at St. Joseph School in Cairo. He went to high school at Preparatory Seminary in Belleville. He got his college degree from Quincy College and attended St. Meinrad School of Theology. He was ordained as a priest May 28, 1977. He served in Cathedral of St. Peter in Belleville, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin, St. Clare Catholic Church at O’Fallon, St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Waterloo, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ridgeway, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Red Bud and Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Du Quoin. He was a fourth-degree member of Knights of Columbus. He had been a diocesan CYO moderator, a vocation director and a diocesan spiritual director of TEC Program. He was a member of Priest Senate. He had been a dean of the West Deanery. He was on the personnel board.He was born Aug. 9, 1951, in Cairo, the son of Harry Thomas and Sarah Ann (Baudino) Stout.He is survived by five brothers and sisters, Mary Helen Wissinger and husband, Jeff, of Cairo, Nan Hall and husband, Tom, of Centralia, John Stout and wife, Carol, of Mounds, Bill Stout and wife, Sheila, of Olmsted and Peggy Berryhill of Cape Girardeau; two aunts, Elizabeth Turner and husband, Don, of Cairo and Mary Eileen Karcher and husband, Dick, of Cairo; one uncle, Brother John Stout CSC of Notre Dame, Ind.; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins; and a host of friends.He was preceded in death by his parents.Friends may make memorials to the donor’s choice of Father Tom’s Parishes or Home Parish or TEC program.
