Abbot Cletus and the monks of St. Bernard Abbey are saddened to announce the death of our confrere, Father Howard Moussier, OSB (formerly Father Howard Roy Oaks).Father Howard professed his vows as a Benedictine monk on July 11, 1959 and was ordained to the priesthood on June 5, 1965. After transferring his stability to St. Bernard Abbey, his primary work was as a pastor in the Archdiocese of Mobile, where he provided many years of priestly service to the people of God. He retired to the Abbey when his health became preventative and in these last years resided at a local nursing home where he could receive proper care, being visited regularly by confreres. Though in poor health for some time, he died unexpectedly on January 19, 2019.
