Father Jenkins, a priest of the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois, at his home in Decatur.He was born Dec. 23, 1948, in Louisville, Ky., the son of Samuel P. and Patricia Gnau Jenkins Sr., and was ordained to the priesthood on June 2, 1979. He had been on an administrative leave of absence since 2004.Father Jenkins is survived by his mother; a sister, Judy Ankrom of Decatur; four brothers, Samuel P. of Virginia, Neil of Aurora, David of Naperville and Jeffrey of Champaign; many nieces and nephew, other relatives and friends.A concelebrated mass of Christian Burial was held Sept. 26 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Decatur.
