The Reverend James V. Ragnoni, Senior Priest-Retired, died Monday, 1 August 2016, after having received the prayerful support and consolation of the Sacraments.James Vincent Ragnoni was born on 1 September 1933. His parents were the late Vincent and Angeline (Jacobelli). He was educated at St. Mary Elementary School, Lorain, Boone Elementary School, Lorain, Hawthorne Jr. High School, Lorain, St. Meinrad Minor Seminary, Indiana, Borromeo Seminary, Wickliffe and St. Mary Seminary, Cleveland. On 28 May 1960 in the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist, Bishop John J. Kroll ordained him to the priesthood for the service of the Diocese of Cleveland.Fr. RagnoniÆs first assignment was as Parochial Vicar of St. Anthony of Padua, Akron. On 10 June 1965 he was transferred to Holy Redeemer, Cleveland to serve as Parochial Vicar. He was assigned Parochial Vicar of St. Mary of the Assumption, Mentor on 28 June 1972. On 1 August 1973 Fr. Ragnoni was named Pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (East), Cleveland. On 1 July 1974 Fr. Ragnoni was named Pastor of St. Anthony of Padua, Akron. During this assignment he served as Dean of Summit County North Deanery (1986-1989), as a Member of the Board of Trustees for the Catholic Cemeteries Association (1989-1994) and on the College of Consultors (1990-1995). Fr. Ragnoni retired on 1 October 2013.
