Father James T. Keane, 84, passed away on October 29, 2013 at Bethel Pointe. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 15, 1929, the son of James Keane and Mary M. (McMahon) and attended Quigley pre-seminary in Chicago. He then attended Our Lady of the Lake minor seminary in Wawasee and graduated from Saint Meinard seminary. Father Keane was then ordained for the Diocese of Lafayette by Bishop Clarence Issaenmann on May 3, 1955. Father Keane served as Associate Pastor at St. Joan of Arc Parish in Kokomo from 1955 until 1956, St Joseph Parish in Elwood from 1956 until 1960. He then served at St. Joseph Parish in Logansport from 1960 until 1961. In 1961 he was assigned as pastor for St. Mary Parish in Dunkirk from 1961 until 1965. At that time he was given pastorate at St. Mary Parish in Union City from 1965 until 1984. Father Keane was then given sabbatical in January 1984 and has been in residence at St. Mary Parish of Muncie ever since. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 4, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery of Lafayette. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2013 in St. Mary Catholic Church followed by a Vigil until 11:00 a.m. on Monday November 4, 2013. The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
