Fr. Jorge Stanfield, C.P., Passionist Religious and Priest died suddenly at Nazareth Home in the Louisville Highlands on September 8, 2021.
He was a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina and served in the Navy there. He studied dentistry and then philosophy in Argentina.
Studies for the priesthood were done at the Passionist Seminary in Louisville and at St. Meinrad, Indiana. He was ordained in 1968 at St. Agnes Church, Louisville, Kentucky.
After ordination he served in Uruguay and Argentina in parish ministry and preaching retreats. He also led Passionist novices and served on Provincial Councils.
In the United States since 1993 Fr. Jorge served on retreat house staffs in Houston, Sierra Madre, California, and Citrus Heights, California.
Known for his graciousness and patience, Fr. Jorge was a joy to live with and will be missed by those who knew him and worked with him.
