The Reverend Fr. Joseph Angotti, died quietly of heart failure on Sunday, May 20, 2018, in his home in the rectory of St. Mary Catholic Church in Westville, Indiana.He was born at Ft. Bliss, El Paso, Texas July 30, 1963. He attended high school in White Plains, New York, graduated from Indiana University and St. Meinrad Seminary in Indiana.After serving in several parishes in the Diocese of Gary, IN, he joined the armed services, serving as Chaplain to the troops at Ft. Benning, Georgia, in Germany and the soldiers in the field during a two year tour in Iraq during the height of the Iraq war.Upon his return from Iraq, he served the parishioners of St. PeterÆs Church in La Porte,Indiana for six years. His most recent appointment to serve the Lord was Chaplain to theinmates in Indiana State Penitentiary. His service as a priest in such varied places brought him great joy.He leaves behind his parents, Karen Bowman Angotti and Joseph Angotti ofMonmouth,Illinois, brothers Mark of Monmouth and Andrew Angotti of Galesburg, IL, Uncle Arthur Angotti, (Barbara) Aunt Phyllis Angotti Parker, Aunt Sally Bowman of Monmouth, Uncle Gay Bowman (Mary) and many wonderful loving cousins, nieces and nephews.Father Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents Everett and Bernadine Bowman ifMonmouth, IL and Arthur and Pauline Angotti of Gary, IN.
