Father Joseph W. Grace, 96, passed away Monday morning, July 2, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Frankfort, on Nov. 28, 1921 the son of Gerald and Fern (Meroney) Grace, graduated from Frankfort High School in 1939, served in The US Army during WWII from August 1942 until November 1945, graduated from St. Joseph College in Rensselaer in 1948, and attended St. Meinrad Major Seminary from September 1948 to May 1953. His Priesthood Ordination was at St. Mary Cathedral in Lafayette of May 26, 1953. Father Grace was the Pastor at St. PaulÆs Catholic Church in Marion for 25 years until his retirement in July 1998, and previously was the Pastor at Immaculate Conception Church in Portland, and was a part time Chaplin at the Marion VA from 1974 until 2016. He was a Perpetual Member of the Frankfort American Legion, Perpetual Member Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus in the Bishop Bennett Assembly in Marion, and a Faithful Friar and Chaplin of the Muncie Knights of Columbus. Surviving are three cousins, Teresa Kronkite, Mary Ayers, and Richard Price; a sister-in-law, Frances Greaney; and a nephew, Mike Grace.
