Father Joseph Lamonde, age 73, of Mount Lebanon, PA passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 18, 2021, in Vincentian Marion Manor after a long battle with cancer. He was the youngest of nine children, son of the late Louis and Elizabeth Lamonde; brother of the late Albert Lamonde, Louis Lamonde, John Lamonde and sister, Rosemary Humphreys Lamonde. Joe is survived by brothers, James Lamonde, Regis Lamonde; and sisters, Theresa Luvara Lamonde and Ellen (Bill) McGraw Lamonde; several nieces and nephews, and godfather to nephew, Kevin McGraw.

Born and raised in the Oakland area of Pittsburgh, Father Joseph attended St. Pauls Cathedral and Central Catholic High School and graduated from St. Francis of Loretta. On May 4, 1974, he was ordained a priest. He served locally for several years in parishes in the Pittsburgh area. At the advice of his brother-in-law Bill, Father Joseph had a gift that could be serviced in the military. He spent 30 years as Chaplain in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps (he loved the Marine Corps). Father Joseph was named the 13th Chaplain of the Marine Corps, by Commandant General Krulak. He served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga during the Gulf War. He had numerous duty stations throughout the world and the United States.
