From Chandler Funeral Home:He was born on November 6, 1944 in Indianapolis; he was the son of Delmore E. and Kathleen G. (Behrmann) Smith. He attended college at Saint Meinrad, theology at The Catholic University of Louvain and received a J.C.L from The Catholic University of America. He was ordained by Archbishop George J. Biskup at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Indianapolis on July 25, 1970.In 1984, Father Smith was initiated into Theta Chi Fraternity at Indiana University, Bloomington, and served as an advisor to the fraternity. In 2006, on the 150th anniversary of the fraternity, he was presented the Theta Chi 100th Anniversary Medallion from the 1956 National Convention in recognition of his work on behalf of Theta Chi.He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother.Father Smith is survived by his brothers, Dennis Smith and Neil Smith of Indianapolis; several nieces and nephews; God children, Kellen Neal Hottell, Rylan Hottell, and Leyton Kyle Hottell; his brother’s dog, Patty whom he loved very much; and many friends.From the Archdiocese of Indianapolis:___Visitation:2:00 G╟⌠ 8:00 pm, Sunday, May 6, 2012Chandler Funeral Home203 E.
