Father Norbert G. Moellering, S.M., died in at the age of 90. Norbert George Moellering was born September 23, 1915 in Florissant, Missouri to Joseph and Gertrude Gittemeier Moellering. He had four brothers and five sisters. He professed his first vows on August 15, 1934 and was ordained at Saint Meinrad Seminary in Indiana on June 11, 1946. He held two Master’s degrees, one in Education and Guidance from St. Louis University and another in Theology from St. Meinrad’s. During his priestly career, Father spent many years at Chaminade Prepartory School in St. Louis as a teacher, priest and Director/President. His Texas assignments included teaching in Victoria and several years at Central Catholic High School in San Antonio. He also taught at McBride HS in St. Louis, MO, at Assumption HS in East St. Louis, IL and at Gross HS in Omaha, NE. He taught Religion, Latin, English, and history; served as a guidance counselor and moderated student council, oratory, school paper, yearbook, and sodality groups. He directed numerous retreats and for years was moderator of the Chaminade Mother’s Club. During the summer of 2000 he was assigned to the Marianist Residence in San Antonio for health reasons. He is survived by his sisters Mrs. Dolores Goldbeck, Mrs. Betty Timme, Mrs. Alma Behlmann, Mrs. Barbara Behlmann; a sister and four brothers preceeded him in death: Mrs. Tony Strathman, Melvyn, Joseph, Ronald, and Victor.Information provided by the San Antonio Express-News online, www.mysanantonio.com, on 5/6/06.
