Reverend Paul D. Dorley, 86, died at the Ursuline Center in Toledo, OH. He was born December 18, 1923 to Raymond and Marie Ellen (Connaughton) Dorley in Lima, OH. Father Dorley attended St. John the Evangelist Elementary School, Lima, OH; Saint Meinrad Seminary, St. Meinrad, IN; St. Peter Seminary, London, Ontario Canada and the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, IN. He was ordained May 26, 1949 at Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral, Toledo, OH. After ordination in 1949 he served as Assistant Pastor at St. Patrick Historic, Toledo, OH. Father Dorley became Pastor in 1965 at St. Patrick, Bascom, OH. His other assignments as Pastor were: St. Patrick, Bryan, OH; St. Richard, Swanton, OH; St. Augustine, Napoleon, OH and St. Patrick, Providence, OH. In January 1984 he became a Chaplain at The Toledo Hospital and served there until his retirement in 1994. He cherished this last appointment offering his support and guidance to those in need. Father Dorley was an avid football enthusiast, following the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish for many years. He also enjoyed tending to his roses. In addition to his parents, Father Dorley was preceded in death by his brothers, Patrick and Donald Dorley. He is survived by his brother, Raymond B. Dorley of Lima, OH; sisters, Jean Ann Holtz of Lima, OH and Mary Agnes Eshman of Annapolis, MD. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. The Reception of the Body and Vespers will be Thursday, November 4, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. at Christ the King Church, 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo, OH, followed by Visitation until 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin Friday, November 5, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Church with Bishop Leonard P. Blair, presiding. There will be an additional Visitation on Friday, November 5, 2010 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Parish, 777 S. Main St., Lima, OH. Committal Services and Interment will be Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Gethsemani Cemetery, 2001 Spencerville, Road, Lima, OH.
