Fr. Ralph Reichert, a Toledo native, passed away Monday afternoon, July 12, 2010 under the care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio at The Ursuline Center, Indian Road where he had lived the past month. The son of Frank and Louise (Falter) Reichert, he was born October 28, 1923. Fr. Reichert’s home parish was Toledo St. Theresa. He studied at Saint Meinrad Seminary in southern Indiana and St. Peter Seminary, London, Ontario, Canada. His early assignments were as assistant pastor at Toledo St. Francis de Sales, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help along with Tiffin St. Mary. He became the Pastor in 1967 of Kirby, St. Mary’s. He also served as Pastor at Sycamore, St. Pius; Paulding, St. Joseph; Upper Sandusky, St. Peter; Fostoria, St. Wendelin; Toledo, Sacred Heart and Toledo, St. Joseph’s. He retired in February, 1994. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Fr. Reichert was also involved for the past thirty-two years in giving retreats for members of Alcoholic Anonymous in the United States and Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Frank Reichert Jr., Paul Reichert and Rose Mary Spencer. Surviving are his cousins. Memorials may take the form of a contribution to the Diocesan Priest’s Retirement Fund, the Guest House, The Ursuline Center or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Published in The Toledo Blade on 7/14/2010.
