From blog.mlive.com:The Rev. Randy Miller, who split his time between St. John and St. Mary Catholic churches, died Monday evening from a massive heart attack suffered during Mass on Saturday. An Allegiance Health house shift manager confirmed his death at 8 p.m., saying the 50-year-old priest had just died.Miller had been on life support at Allegiance, said Rev. Jim Shaver, the pastor at St. John. It was assumed Miller had serious brain damage. While giving out communion at the 5:30 p.m. Mass Saturday at St. Mary, 301 S. Mechanic St., Miller felt light-headed. He handed the host to someone nearby, sat down in the front pew and collapsed, Shaver said.Obviously, people are staggered,” Shaver said earlier Monday. “It happened so suddenly.”John Scott, a St. Mary parishioner who was at the mass, said Miller was not breathing and had no pulse. A nurse who was there gave him chest compressions, and another person “gave him breath” until emergency workers arrived, Scott said. The Rev. Cecilio Reyna was there and gave the last rites, Shaver said.”Father Randy, he is well-loved by the parishioners,” said Scott, who was born and raised in the church.Scott said he and others stayed after mass to pray for Miller.Shaver said Miller, a smoker with diabetes, had been in poor health. From obits.mlive.com:Father Randy Miller – Surrounded by his family and fellow clergy, Father went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 28, 2011 age 50 years.
