Fr. Edelen, 64, a Catholic Priest of the Diocese of Lexington, KY, died at St. Joseph Hospital.A native of Springfield, Fr. Edelen was a graduate of Saint Meinrad College and School of Theology in IN, and was ordained on May 25, 1975 into the Archdiocese of Louisville.His assignments included St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral in Bardstown, St. Margaret Mary in Louisville, St. Aloysius in Pee Wee Valley. He also served as a Chaplain at LaGrange Reformatory, St. Mildred in Somerset, Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary in Lexington, Queen of All Saints Church and Missions in Beattyville, KY and as a Chaplain at Lee County Correctional Facility. His last assignment was at Pax Christi Catholic Church in Lexington where he retired from in July 2010.He is survived by his mother, Audrey Hays Edelen of Springfield, KY; two brothers, Jeffrey (Tanna) Edelen of Lawrenceburg and Bill (Patrice) Edelen of Bardstown; six sisters, Linda (Joe) Buckler of Chattanooga, TN, Susan Jaeschke of Edgewood, Cathy Edelen of Springfield, Nancy (Bill) Blacketer of Bowling Green, Margaret (Bob) Smith of Lebanon and Barbara (John) Pettus of Springfield and several nieces and nephews.Contributions are suggested to the Rev.
