Father Robert C. ôCassö Volpert, a retired priest of the Archdiocese of Louisville, died on March 29. He was 85 years old.Father Volpert, a native of Louisville, served as a pastor, teacher and chaplain during his more than 57 years as a priest.He attended St. MaryÆs College High School and St. MaryÆs College for seminary. He completed his seminary education at St. Meinrad School of Theology in St. Meinrad, Ind. He was ordained a priest of the archdiocese on May 27, 1961.He served as pastor of the following parishes: St. Sylvester, Ottenheim, Ky.; the old St. Ann; Incarnation and Epiphany.He served as associate pastor of the following parishes: the old Holy Cross; St. Albert the Great, St. Mary, Hillview, Ky.; St. Bernard and St. Edward.Father Volpert also taught at Trinity High School and the former Bishop David High School. He served as a chaplain at Our Lady of Peace Hospital and served on the Archdiocesan Health Panel for more than 25 years.He is survived by his sister, Dolores Gidcumb; his nieces Judi Ilari, Jeanine Burke, Deborra Clark Oser, Denise Waldbrunn and his nephew William Chism, as well as many grandnieces and nephews.
