Father Ronald E. Patterson was born in Auburn, NE to Ott and Ada Patterson. Ron graduated from Cathedral High in Lincoln and joined the Army. After discharge he moved to California and graduated from the College of Mortuary Science in Los Angeles. While working in Hollywood he embalmed Actress Carmen Miranda. He owned and operated an ambulance service. While in California Ron answered God’s call and entered the seminary. Father Patterson loved serving God and formed strong bonds with his parishioners. He was ordained a priest at Sacred Heart Church in Lincoln in 1964 by Bishop Casey. He served several parishes in the Lincoln Diocese, including St. Joseph, Beatrice; St. Mary’s, Lincoln; St. Leos, Palmyra; St. Martin, Douglas; St. Michael, Cheney; Sacred Heart, Lincoln; St. Patrick’s, Manley; and St. Mary’s, Elmwood. He is survived by brother and sister-in-law, Bob & Mavis Patterson, Kansas City, Mo.; sister and brother-in-law, Pat & Terry Spencer, Lincoln; nephews, Robert M. Patterson, Littleton, Colo.; Scott Spencer, Lincoln; and niece, Kelly Connors, Lees Summit, Mo. Memorials: Sacred Heart Church or Catholic Charity of your choice.
