Reverend William C. Hartlage, 94, died at Sacred Heart Village. He was ordained a Catholic Priest on June 7, 1941. Fr. Bill was an associate pastor at Holy Trinity Church; an Army Chaplain and veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippines and Seoul, Korea, where he built an orphanage; chaplain at Ormsby Village; pastor at St. Simon & Jude and St. Denis Churches; spiritual director of the Cursillo Movement from 1971-1987; director of St. Thomas Center for Spiritual and Pastoral Renewal from 1976-1987; appointed Vicar for Clergy in 1987; and was the founding director of Bishop David Apartments for retired priests. He was preceded in death by his brother, Albert J. “Bud” Hartlage; sisters, Agnes Gramig, Lucille Hagan, Dorothy Newton, Sr. M. Rose Hartlage, OSU and Sr. Ruth Mary Hartlage, SCN. He is survived by 19 nieces and nephews, 88 great-nieces and nephews; 188 great-great nieces and nephews.
