Frederick Joseph Schwenk, also known as Papoose, 70, of Washington, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017, at his home. He was born on August 10, 1946, in Jasper to Jerome and Magdalen (Reker) Schwenk. He was a 1964 graduate of Ireland High School. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and 3rd and 4th degree Knights of Columbus of Washington. He received the BruteÆ Society Award on November 20, 2005. He was the director of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Perpetual Eucharistic and Adoration Chapel. He had many hobbies that included, fishing, dancing, golfing and singing in the choir. He loved playing cards, making wine and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Ritchey) Schwenk whom he married, July 18, 1981; three daughters; Alesia (Eric) Cato of Evansville, Andrea Dwyer (Jeff Lemon) of Washington, Belinda (Robert) Menke of West Palm Beach, Florida; brother, Bro. Flavian ôJunnieö Schwenk O.S.B of St. Meinrad; two sisters, Patty (Tom) Sternberg of Jasper, Carol (Joe) Walters of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren, Jaret Roach, Marisa Adams, Aubrey Adams, Jameson Dwyer, Aidan Dwyer, Lexie Lemon and Easton Lemon; Godson, Brian Schwenk, Goddaughters, Jody (Schwenk) Verkamp, Rachell Brummitt and Amy (Leistner) Helming and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Katie Schwenk and brother, Ambrose Schwenk
