Mr. James, 81, passed away at 6:33 p.m. at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.Born March 23, 1930, he was the son of Jesse H. and Helen Rosemary (Burkhardt) James. He was a 1948 graduate of Washington Catholic High School, attended Saint Meinrad College for two years and taught GED classes for several years.A US Army veteran of the Korean War, he retired from the Washington Times Herald. He was a member of St. Mary Choir for more than 60 years; a member of Feed My Sheep, where he had served on the board of directors; and was the last survivor of the original Knights of Columbus Choir.Survivors include a sister, Norma Ketchem of Washington; a brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Ruth James of Washington; his best friend and caregiver, Richard Overton of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Eleanor Burris, Mary Emma Uhl and Sister Mary Harold; three brothers, Robert James, William James and Father Edward James; one nephew, Jerry Lee James, Sr.; and one great-niece, Lisa (James) Rogers.Information obtained from the Washington Times Herald online, www.washtimesherald.com
