Herb, 91, passed away at Floyd Memorial Hospital. He was a retired Senior Partner for Lorch and Naville Attorneys at Law and was past president and oldest member of the Floyd County Bar Association. He was a major in the U.S. Army in World War II, a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Catholic Church, Valley View Golf Club, the New Albany Lions Club, the Cardinal Ritter Knights of Columbus, the American Legion Post and the Hobart Beach Post. He served as secretary of the Floyd County Democratic Party for 43 years and was formerly on the Board of Trustees of the University of Louisville School of Law. He served as the Floyd County prosecutor, choir director of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and attended St. Meinrad Seminary, where he served on the Board of Overseers. He was a founding member of Rauch Inc., where he served on the Board of Directors. He was a Kentucky Colonel and was honored as the 2003 Rotary Club Man of the Year. He received the distinguished honor of being named a Sagamore of the Wabash, an honor bestowed upon him by the governor of Indiana. Herb’s family would like to extend their gratitude to his wonderful caregivers at Providence Retirement Home. Herb is survived by his wife, Rita E. Poff Naville; four sons, Mike Naville (Sandy), Pat Naville (Patty), Tim Naville (Julie) and John Naville (Kim); two daughters, Joan Naville and Ellen Coulter (Rick); 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Herb was buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery with full military honors.
