Herman A. Heinz, 83, of Vincennes, passed away Tuesday February 17, 2015, at 5:07 p.m. at the Good Samaritan Hospital with his family at his bedside.He was born September 3, 1931, in Vincennes the son of Herman O. and Golda Underwood Heinz. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School and began a 61 year career as a licensed plumber with H.G. Heinz.He served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army in the 82 Airborne as a paratrooper and returned to the business that he and his son now own.He married Betty Keller on September 27, 1952, and they made their life together for over 62 years. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church, the K of C, a former Cub Scout Master, he loved horses and he owned Whispering Pines Stables with several Registered Quarter Horses. He was a proud member of the American Quarter Horse Assn, a strong supporter of the Knox County 4-H and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.He is survived by his wife, Betty Heinz; their children, Lucinda Heinz, of Vincennes, Herman A. “Tony” Heinz Jr., and his wife, Lynnette, of Vincennes, Michael Heinz, and his wife, Donna, of Jasper, Rose Heinz of Vincennes, Mark Heinz, and his wife, Paula, of Vincennes, Daniel Heinz, and his wife, Vivian, of Evansville, Kathy Garner, and her husband, Dale, of Vincennes, and Patrick Heinz, and his wife, Gina, of Bridgeport, Ill. His beloved grandchildren, Derek Heinz, Vanessa Heinz, Erik Heinz, Nathan Heinz, Joshua Heinz, Kristin Heinz, Craig Heinz, Nicholas Heinz, Melanie Heinz, Kristy Mayer, Chelsey Heinz, Christian Heinz, Justin Garner, Caleb Garner, Jordan Garner, Amber Fowler, Ashley Heinz and Justin Heinz; his great-grandchildren, Caleb Heinz, Josie Heinz, Kaylie Mayer, Ethan Mayer, Layla Mayer, Jacob Garner, Max Garner, Baylee Garner, Ryan Garner, Coleman Garner, Kenna Garner, Draven Garner, Jarrod Devine and Lane Garner; his brothers and sister, Frank Heinz, and his wife, Wanda, of Largo Fla., David Heinz, and his wife, Sue of Parker, Colo., John Heinz, of Normal, Ill., and Regina Franck, and her husband, George Franck M.D., of Winston-Salem, N.C.He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman O. and Golda Heinz; brothers, Robert Heinz, Raymond Heinz and Joseph Heinz; sister, Delores Lacy; and a stepgreat-grandson, Memphis Riker.
