Mr. Loner, 90, died in the WoodBridge Health Campus.He was born on February 20, 1920, in Logansport, to William P. and Mary C. Schmaltz Loner. On May 18, 1946, in Winnipeg, Canada, in Holy Cross Catholic Church, he was married to Angele M. Bourdon, who survives.Herman was the owner of Loner Construction Company, retiring in 1981. He was a World War II veteran of the 340th Army Engineers. He attained the rank of sergeant and served in Alaska and the Middle East.He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church; the Knights of Columbus, where he was the 1982 Knight of the Year; American Legion Post 60; and VFW Post 3790. He also sang in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Men’s Choir and was a member of the St. Joseph’s Parish Council.Herman enjoyed helping his family with any carpentry projects, as well as golfing, tennis, bid euchre and bowling, where he was proud of his 7-10 split pick-up.Herman, along with his wife, had delivered Meals-On-Wheels since 1982.Surviving are five sons, Wayne J. Loner, Cleveland, Ohio, Stephen H. (Della) Loner, Merritt Island, Fla., Douglas Edward (Linda) Loner, Rockford, Ill., Bernard Andrew (Sylvia) Loner, Logansport, and Lawrence Joseph (Christy) Loner, Jasper; grandchildren, Fauleen Lucero, Patrick Loner, Julien Miller, Paul D. Loner, Paul T. Loner, David Loner, Jim Loner, Michael Loner, Jodie Mulder, Catherine Loner and Caroline Loner; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary C. Surface, Lafayette; sister-in-law, Patricia Loner, Logansport; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by five brothers, Joseph W. Loner, John A. Loner, Lawrence J. Loner, Paul L. Loner and the Rev. George T. Loner, and one sister, Catherine M. Bourdon.Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Building Fund, All Saints Parish Office, 112 E.
